Clio Mk2 rear number plate lamp plug

If anyone needs to replace the number plate lamp connector don't let Renault tell you the whole rear lamp loom has to be bought to get the plug and wire. Its the same as the crank sensor plug and is available as a single unit. Part number 8200673203 kit sensor plug. Ring Karl at SMC Renault (Twingogeekio) and he'll supply.

Cant you just cut off both parts of the connetor and splice the wires together as its only a two pin circuit?
