I know they are, but that doesn't make them look any better. They totally spoil the balance of the car because the side skirts end up sitting lower than the front bumper.

Not sure if you can see but the standard skirts are lower than the front bumper. Even with the standard rubber lip they're lower

I'd be interested to know how level 12 on the traction control completely prevents wheelspin. Presumably it just turns the engine off when you press the accelerator, and politely asks you to get out of the car.

They are, but this makes it looks 1000x more obvious. Each to their own ultimately, but they look gash in my view. And not in a fresh 18-year old college chick way. In a chunky, fifty-year old growler way.
