Clio MK3 Buying advice

  Clio mk2
The title says it all really. I'm looking at getting a Mk3 1.4 Dunamique or 1.2 TCE Dynamique S.

Any general advice/things to look out for would be greatly appreciated!

I would go for the TCE personally. I have the 1.4 MK3 and a friend had the TCE, the TCE seems like the better engine, and is £50 a year cheaper on road tax too which is always a bonus. Also if you are going down the route of engine modification the TCE be increased to 120/30bhp fairly easily, compared to the 1.4 which is very pointless and chasing power. The dynamique S is a good choice giving you the wider arched front wings and often a very good such as auto lights and wipers, reach and height adjustable steering, air con and many more.

yeah the 1.2 TCE is the one to go for but harder to find on my budget, i didn't realise the front arches were wider so thanks for that! Any particular problem areas? Things similar to the ecu's and the sun roofs on mk 2's.

Get a tce, much much better and has more potential. Just make sure the gear box feels good with no crunching. And full service history is a bonus.

No major problems I don't think, just the usual things such as belts have been done every 5-6 years or 72k & 104k, depending on what age you are looking at late 2009-2010 models the belts might not have been done yet so you might want to factor that into the cost, probably around £300-400 for a 1.2 engine. Make sure all the bulbs are working if you are buying from a dealer as these are often a pain to replace so you can just get them to do it for you before you purchase the car saving you the hassle. Make sure all the electrical's work as fault can occur, such as all 4 blower settings, rear-demister, air-con and heating for example.

That's all I can think of at the top of my head, maybe some one else will be along later on with some more knowledge :)
