Clio Mk3 rear indicator fault

The rear nearside indicator on my daughter-in-law-to-be's 2010 Clio Mk3 has stopped working. As originally explained to me it kept blowing bulbs but more recently a local garage had a look and confirmed that the bulb was fine and it was a more fundamental wiring issue. Their proposed solution - you need to replace the complete wiring loom .

A search doesn't show any commonly occurring problem but, before I get busy with my contact cleaner and multimeter, has anybody got any suggestions of known fault areas please?

I used to know a good local auto electrician but looks like they're a dying breed!

Not sure about any known faults, but if it's blowing bulbs then that suggests there's a fault with the bulb holder or wiring short somewhere.
