Clio need to knows!

  saxo vts
not in general for you knowledgeable lot! but things that are picking my brain

firstly anyway ill introduce myself anyway rather than two threads! im danny, 23 from teesside had a saxo vts for a good couple of years and loved it to detah but thought it was time to move on! sold it in novemeber and purchased an audi tt but the reality of the situation is now im bored with the car, i miss the driveabiltiy and in all honesty cheap and easyness of working/living with french cars! being involved and still am with saxperience meant i never really left the french scene so it was always going to be so long before it happned
plus the fact i was looking at doing a few tracks this year (nurburgring/silverstone)
anyway pics of the 2 cars, the saco being at last years fcs!

right down to buisness anyway which i would be gratefull of your help!

the two 172 models are the ones ive been looking at around 2002/2003 reg si here are my q's

1) what to look out for hen buying? when is cambelt due/advised?

2) what are all the diffrences between cup and full fat models? i know suspension is one point and the wheels but in theory if im uprating the suspension and wheels on either of them, wont it be the same setup as in handling etc?

3) the old wheel size debate! ive read on here and been told by a mate such things as 16s for handling, 17s for looks which is reasonable but with the profiles on the speedlines being a 205/45/16? its not going to be too dissimilar? im mentioning this because im a sucker for superleggeras and it would most likely be easier to fetch a set of 17s which dont seem to look too big on the clio
just weighing up my options anyway

anythign else you think could help me would also be appreciated, sorry for the long read as ive just realised how much ive put!

thanks once again

oh p.s if anyones intrested in a swap deal pm me ;)

1. Theres a buyers guide on here somewhere, best to search that up. Cambelt is 5yrs/72k but I wouldn't leave it much long than 4 years myself. 2002 should've been done last year, 2003 should be done very soon if not already.

2. Cup is 90kg~ lighter than the FF but has no xenons, leather, climate control, abs , etc. Basically its the stripped out version. Only avaliable in Mondial Blue and later ones in Iceberg Silver as well.

3. 15s for handling by far. 16s for looks, standard tyres are 195/45/16. 17s are too big and most of the time look silly imo, some look ok though (very few), superlegs possibly.

thanks a lot mate! how much would a cambelt change be?

just browsing parkers and it only said around 15kg diffrence but now i see with it being more like 90!

it also says the cup is a little bit longer or is this just more bs

  53 Clio's & counting
cup is the same length mate

cambelt change will be around 500 notes as its quite an involved job (read no bloody space lol)
