clio problems

  Clio RT
right i was out in my clio mk1 rt a couple of days ago, we stopped in a car park for 15 mins and when i came to start my engine again it wouldnt start, all the lights still worked along with the headunit but it just wudnt start but then after about 30 mins of waiting i tried it again and it just started up 1st time any ideas why it did this? also the brake pedal became quite stiff for some reason but then it was fine after it had started up.

Cheers Andy

Did it make any sort of noise when you turned the key, like a clicking? It could of been a few things, but if it made perhaps a noise it could be the starter motor? Mine had issues like this then one day didn't start at all unless bump started. Think it cost me £70 for a new one.

EDIT: Oh and the brake pedal will become harder and harder when the car isn't started. ;)

I had something like this on my RT, was the starter motor. My dad twatted it with a spanner and its been fine ever since - that was over 18 months ago.

Perhaps maybes the fuel filter needs renewing also. The Haynes says to do that every 36,000 miles.
