On my car there's a little hole/plug to the left of the gear knob on the centre console (54 plate 182). I originally assumed it was something to do with the alarm - but now I'm not so sure. I'll post a photo tomorrow if need be - but are these standard or is this something mine has been fitted with later?

Sounds like where the LED for the alarm should be.

1. A small diacritic mark, such as an accent, vowel mark, or dot over an i.

Maybe it is one of those?
