Clio Sport 192

....... is there any such car in the offering? With Hondas Type-R benchmark just a smidgen under 200bhp, are we likely to see Renault raise the bar to 192bhp with the next revision?

Anyone heard/seen anything to prove/disprove this?

Cheers,

D.

next renaultsport model will be in 2006 on new platform Bhp not known as yet but i dont think they are putting in new engines so 192 would be a struggle.

the next shape clio sport is ment to be 200bhp + autoexpress reckon

id have one if it ever gets made

Subject of much guessing/discussion. What ever, it has been said it will be a NA 2L engine and how far renault can go with is anybodies guess, but a figure of 200ish cant be far off.

New shape Clio out Dec 2005?

Must be 2.0 turbo as new mini due out in 2007 has a TURBO with 230bhp!

I thought the new shape was out in the spring and the RS was spring next year. Most on here would love a TB clio, but everyone who seems to usually know stuff reckons it NA

The next clio is rumoured to be lighter and better handling and under 200hp never mind what Minis etc have the Clio is much cheaper car.

192 would be a good guess though and theres no problem deisgning over 200hp from the car without a turbo.

The new Clio will have a 2 litre Turbo but it looks like a bigger Modus - Nasty in my opinion
Its already been said from an official renault source that there will not be a turbo RS clio it will be n/a.

I thought Jeremy T had been on here and said no turbo, i could be wrong.

Surely reno could up the stakes without turbo, after all they make formula 1 engines so they should know what their doing.

  Suzuki SV1000S

I could be wrong guys but this was in a Magazine I read in France over the Christmas period and it said a 1.6 a 1.8 and eventually a 2 litre Turbo will be available. But it is a Ugly biatch

having seen the pics of it i think it will grow on me,its nicer than a megane and thats grow on me a fair bit.the roofs a bit high yeah but wait for it i bet its still smart.

as for the mini who confirmed it was going to be a turbo?bmw are having problems with the mini,it aint cheap enough to make, their getting rid of the "funky"(gay)dials, the roofs that are different colours and the z axle bwm used on the rear, this was a big plus on the minis handling so i wouldnt expect to much.the engine was about the only cheap thing as its made in brazil.

the comment on the type-r,if you think the new clios ugly have you seen the new civic, looks like the new focus to me not very nice,no doubt power and handling will be up and improved though.

id still be putting an order in for the clio, renault have proved before they can make a hot hatch better than any of these companys and make it cheaper!

new RS clio will be 2litre NA, no turbo, but having seen the Astra VXR with 240 bhp in autoexpress I am starting to get nervous about my next car, there are going to be lots to choose from!

Toms normally got quite a lot to say about this topic.

Id never buy the VXR new Dave - like any Vauxhall the deprecation will be massive!! My friend just sold his 2000 V6 Vectra for £5k that cost the first owner 25k new!

its a bigger car though but yep it looks nice and should be fast

The new Mini is defo going to be a turbo, the S works is 230BHP not the std S. Autocar had a 4 page article on it a few weeks back, the Z axle will go as it takes it too much room which will allow for more/some rear leg room. The supercharger is going mainly because of the new pedestrian safety regulations, its the way the intercooler sits on top of the engine apparently.

Poppy Carol, I wouldnt why my 16v was quick!

So long as they dont go down the VAG Golf GTi route - bigger, heavier, pricier - all cancelled out by hike in performance. Give it another ten years and the Mk23 Golf GTi will weigh 2.5 tons, but have solar integrated sat-nav climate control, fridge, sunbed and 85-CD autochanger. It will be powered by a bi-turbo 4.0litre V8, but still only manage a 7.2sec 0-60 time.

Sorry, did I mention that I hated Golf GTis? :devilish:

thats unreal about the vectra v6 i thought clios were bad.the new astra looks nice but they always just seem to be missing that something for me.

the mini sells well but have you seen the prices on them?their taking too long for them to build an theirfore costing to much, they said having to take two trips to the paintshop to paint the roof one colour and the body another added to much time.the dials are been done away with.the frameless windows are going to be removed.the z axle might take up space but it does a lot for the handling of the car,so yes it might be faster but how do they plan on making it handle like it currently does?their also meant to be making spin off estate and raised roof(mpv) versions.i hope they do as for me itd some up what this car is,it wouldnt matter if it had a 750cc engine 9/10 folk would still buy it,i see countless mini cooper s and very few of these ever seem to actually get "driven".

The new clio comes out early 2006. Its a 2.0 litre turbo, 6 speed with a whole new geometry setup. Should be 205-210bhp. More than enough to beat a crappy mini!!!!!!
