Clio Sport RS Insurance!

  RS Meg 175
Hello people!

what model, age etc is the cheapest 2.0 clio to insure? and what age is it possible without paying properly through the nose? as i love the 172 Cups and have recently fell for the racing blue 182's :quiet:

Cheers guys
Matt

The 182 is group 16...tho the cup is group 17 IIRC..

Some companies wont cover the cup as they think its more of a risk with no ABS (which is balls IMO)...

On my 182 I have my own policy at 22 with one years NCB, a 50/50 accident nearly 3 years ago, garaged in a Glasgow post code £900 a year.

In your opinion statistics and fact are balls??

Sorry. Not an ABS thing but come on, that's a silly statement.

BTW, Last time I checked my insurance quotes for RS (early last year, now buying a 172). 182 was £1900 and 172cup was £2200. Clio DCi was £1300 :dead:

BTW, the insurance groups you see on car stats etc aren't actually what the insurers use apparently. The girl at Direct Line said she didn't know exactly what it was based on but that the 0-20 groups are just a very very vague guide on how much you should expect to be paying.

I don't think there's a 'cheap' 2.0 to insure, it depends on so many factors, postcode, age, mileage etc etc... I know myself that sub-25 the quotes were silly but not un-obtainable. I am now (just) 26 and it's a more manageable £450 F/C for me and g/f.
Oh and colour is a factor too, red (supposedly) is the most stolen colour
As Alan says tho, Cup's are classed as a higher risk.

  850 T5. mmmm Turbo!
im 23 got a 172
speeding fine 3 years ago.
5 years no claims.

£580

not bad i guess.
thats with direct line!

older cars are cheaper to insure. a ff 172 will be cheaper to insure than a 172 cup.
i had luck with bell.co.uk and added 2 named older drivers to my policy which took loads of money off. if i was you, i'd find a car id like then ring up/get an online quote for most of the companies on the insurance sticky thread.

how much do you have to spend on insurance? mine was £2000 ish when i was 19 nearly 20 with 2yrs ncb. 2005 182 ff with both cups if that helps?

Where is that from Ryan, it's much more when I've done quotes so far.

Matta, you will lose a lot of money if you buy a 1.6 and then a 2.0. Better off sticking with the 1.2 for now.

No as points are not claims!!!

Unless you havent told your company in like months, at the end of renewal they can deny you any NCB for being dishonest.

both a ph1 172 and a 182 are exactly the same price to insure, i rang up and asked as my insurance on the RS1 is £1600

Insurance isn't as simple as group 1-20, there is also different banding's within that (a,b,c,d etc). The main effect on insurance is your postcode, once did a comparison with a friend on identical cars/age/driving experiance/ncb/storage, with the only differeance being postcode (100miles apart, both good area's) and the quote was £200 different!!!!

Specialist insurers will always be cheaper than elephant, norwich union etc. But you will need to be 21 for most of them.

I am about to renew with Greenlight £495, 4 years ncb, 3 points.
