clio track project

  clio
Hi there
im new to the clio world and after some advice so be patient with me.

to cut a long story short i just sold my honda prelude track toy and was in the process of looking for a new project when i had a call from my old man saying his 2004 clio 1.5 dci had given up (big time) and would i want to use it for the new project.

Safe to say i did, so now sitting on the drive is the clio awaiting some new life to be put into her.
After alot of looking around this site the best option seems to be a 172 engine conversion for reliability and a massive diet for the car. suspension brakes etc.

As its only going to used for track days iv got plenty of time to do the conversion once i source a suitable doner .

now here is where the questions begin.

as time is not a issue does this sound like the best root to be going down?

As im going from a diesel to a petrol will the whole fuel system need swapping over, fuel lines etc?

Any advice on this will be greatly appreciated

Cheers
