Clio Trip Computer

  RenaultSport Clio 182 Cup
Hi folks. First post here.

I have noticed on my 54 plate 182, a strange phenomenon with the trip computer. If you park the car up, leave the ignition on setting 2, (the one just before the engine starts, where all the dash lights come on), and then switch the computer to the 'Average Speed' setting, the speed actually counts down about 0.1 mph per 20 seconds.

It was just a fluke that I noticed it the other day, and surely without the engine running, this value shouldn't be counting down. Anyone else experienced this on their Clio?

are you joking?
its an average speed, therefore it takes the speed over time, and averages it out, it wont drop straight away as it is based on average
welcome anyway

Thanks for the welcome. :rasp:

I get what you are saying, but this doesn't seem to happen on some of the other Clio's I have looked at. Once I noticed it happening, I checked it out on a friends 1.4 Dynamique, and his just remains at the same reading, unless you start the engine, at which point if you don't move, it starts counting down, (obviously).

I don't have another 182 to test it against, so that is why I was enquiring here. If someone could try it and let me know, I'd be grateful.

Mine does it without the engine running, but it doesn't do it with the ignition off. Only if the key is in, and set to the service mode, (setting 2).

Strange!!

Yes but like he says the engine ISN'T running at this point.

Your average mpg wouldn't (or shouldn't) drop when stationary with the engine off, so why should the average speed.

If he was sat in traffic with engine running, it would drop but it shouldn't with it off.
