CLIO TURBO

...u can probably bet on another 3k on top for the dealer who does it over here tho as we always get ripped off in ol blighty...
 


The price I paid for the kit was 3300 pounds plus the installation which was almost the same price as the kit. Sorry, I only replied for the kit price :oops: and forgot about the installation.

Anyway, My kit was put together in one week and I could see it was a lot of work to get this thing all together. But believe me, it is worth every penny. And you realise that when you run against an Audi TT or an Alfa Romeo and the only thing you can see is the face of the guy yelling and swearing %"#$%# because the only thing he can see is your licence plate that says "if you can see his..then my car is faster than yours...and it was a lot cheaper!!!"

Anyway, its a great value for the price.

Surely you can get the renault turbo for less. Isnt the megane 255 just the clio 172 engine with a turbo? surely this will fit to any 172 and give you an extra 5bhp to boot

aah, thanks arturo, so it takes a week to fit and obviously quite a bit of work but 3k? 1k or 1.5k maybe. then again having not seen or driven it i guess i cant judge. so round a bout january we may have the choice of a turbo or tb conversion depending on funds of course, still its all positive for 172/cup owners eh :oops:

If you hadnt noticed:

Clio 172 - Has approx 172 bhp

Megane 225 - Has approx 225 bhp

Well, theyve down graded it then to save v6 sales since there first article on it. It does say in the reno mag that it is 255. it way be a misprint or whatever but im sure it can be modified beyond 225 and at a much more reasonable price than 3k. Yes i know the v6 is 255 but that is not turbo charged its just a 3.0 24v. Why do you need more power than 172 anyway? so you can beat all them nova srs and gtis?
 


Anyway, it wont just be the 172 engine with a turbo on. It will have lower compression, probably using dished and forged pistons....



My dad has actually seen one in the flesh; he says it was pretty tasty
 


The clio turbo conversioon has a lot nmore than a turbo charger. It has a lower compression inside the cylinders. This becasue of the special pistons created for this special kit.

Please feel free to ask about what this kit includes. I am sure that when you get to see it in action you will really like it.

As Arturo says the kit incluides everything and we are making some changes for our export kit, in Mexico we dont have too much clients because the people here dont have much money our target always be to export our product and thats because we will have a dealer in Europe to represent us with our philosophy of quality and service. By December the 4th we have people here asking all the technical questions and details to fit in the car as well as we do. Please wait and see our demo runing and then we can talk about it.

what about the forthcoming clio, that might have a turbo?? so you could wait and save money. and the megane RS 225, will be chippable to at least 245-250. then the 0-60 will drop from 6.5 to 6.1-6.2 and 30-70 will be faster by 1.5+ secs prob.

also i like the look of the new megane rs even though many wont and you get lots of safety kit and driving aids.

The wheels of the Arturos clio are OZ Superturismo, the same wheels of the Clio V6.

Phill, the clio 2004 for europe doesnt have turbo, is 182HP, new 16" wheels and exhaust from clio V6... check the news in http://www.renault.comwww.renault.com

Hello, as Luis has said we will soon have our car fitted with the turbo kit. The kit gives the 172 incredible performance along with very good reliability due to the time and effort which has been put into the kit along with some very good engine mapping.

Believe me when I say the car is fast, we will be looking at a potential of well over 300bhp with the stage 3 kit (available mid next year) and even the stage 1 kit will produce around 250bhp and performance to easily give a standard Evo 8 a tough fight in a straight line.

We hope to have more details and prices available on our website in early January once our car is ready. We would also like to invite anyone down to come out in the car to see how quick it will be.

err.. top speed anyone hehe ;)

0-60 should be around 5.5 secs. We have managed 4.8 secs to 60 in one of our R5s so it is possible with FWD.

Rob, the Mexican sun is a little better than it is over here to say the least. We did not have much time to enjoy the sun as we were too busy being taken out in some rather quick cars. These included a twin turbo 2.7 mondeo, a 2.0l Audi TT running around 320 bhp, a Golf VR6 bored to 3.2l and turbo charged and not forgetting our blast though the busy streets of Mexico at nearly double the UK speed limit at night in a Clio turbo!!!

The kit does not cost 3K. Even at the current exchange rate the kit would work out at £3353. This is for the lower spec kit which uses a smaller turbo. This also does not include shipping, taxes etc. The kit we will be fitting uses a larger turbo to give very good top end performance as well as good every day drivability. The kit will also not cost £3k to fit, it will be alot less than that but we will not release the prices until the new year.

so 0-60 in 5.5 in the 250bhp or 300bhp??? if thats the 300 then i dont mean to be rude but 5.5 seems slow. if its the 250 then i would expect that. so 300bhp should be 5.0 ?

(p.s can you make a replica 182 exhaust pair with rear skirts cut identically ((plus heat shield)) ) hehe
 


dont 172s have traction control? thatd help the take off with that power? otherwise itd be similar too the coupe? wheels spinning when flooring it with that power through FWD?

if this turns out too be good.... 172 CUP turbo will be on my car list in a few months.

One other intersting thing, does the fitting of this turbo kit require the removal of the air-con ? or did you find a way round that problem .. there isnt exactly an abundance of space under the bonnet.
