Does anyone know the history of this?

Also from the photos, can anyone see any structural damage, wheels our of place etc.

  No more clio's for me!
Its a mk1 v6 isn't it?? Looking at the interior :S

Why's it been repaired with mk2 bits?

Edit: ignore me...read the top bit again!

Looks like someone has taken the opportunity to repair it properly.

Id have no issue with it if it was around the write money.

Oh wheres the rear spoiler gone?[/quote]

probably used an non v6 tailgate with a standard spoiler and not replaced it! Only real problem i see with it and an easy 1 to sort if your prepared to go out and buy a v6 spoiler imo

To do it properly should have used the Mk2 subframe (stiffer) and wishbones etc and fixed the suspension setup.
na not matt, it would've been lots of different colours if matt had done it ;)
Plus they'd be an Audi engine in it at the front.

I'd say £8k is absolulty top price to pay for it though no more than that.
There not cheap to repair so you'd ant to kow if they fixed the old stuff of paid a forutne for new stuff.

Easy way to check the chassic is to measure it I've got the dimentional points here just get it up on the ramps with a tape measure and check.

If they were willing to scrimp on the headlights, would that not suggest they cut corners elsewhere?

It looks like the subframe has been straightened/repaired as it is covered in primer.

I wouldn't.

Will be so weird having a Mk I interior and the Mk II exterior... would be so much better other way round :D

^
I agree, i'll be looking for a mk1 when I sell my car - I was thinking of having a mk2 dash etc put in as i''m not really a fan of the mk1 interior.

get it checked over then mate. As taylor said they guys posted loads of pics, i can't understand people that won't touch repaired cars, if it's been done right it won't be any different, just cheaper.

You can plug the Mk2 lights in with zeons into the loom they work phase 1 or 2. The phase 2 conversion was probably done to help sell and the parts are more common.

Hmm, i want it, but im just unsure about the handlign etc if its not been fixed properly

Get it measured up then and take it for a test drive on a big empty space any outstanding damage should show up or get the AA etc to check it.

Those subframes are quite strong to help sort the handlig so a small knock ins't much there a serious piece of kit.

i totally agree with that. Even if a car was a category write off, sometimes it can be repaired so that its as good as new and in better condition than a similar non categorised car. Paintwork will prob be much better (if done properly), and if new parts are being used suspension etc will be in better condition and so on.
