Clio V6 mk1 OR Escort Cossy

Im not going to argue with you Clio drivers, they are old hat and generally student cars now!

I brought up the BM as an alternative to the ageing Escort Cossie and the Clio V6! The Clio will have a performance edge, the Cossie has a handling advantage and the M3 kitted BM is the best looking, smoothest and 2nd fastest!

I bought one of those +20BHP chip conversions from EBAY (£4.99 bargain) so I probably have 170BHP under the bonnet, which is more than a match for most executive saloons, never mind hot hatches!

Rob 137 all day every day!
rob, you are without a doubt the biggest prick to ever grace these pages. read the title - CLIOSPORT. you said clios are sh*t and you know even less about SPORTS cars, thats why you drive the same motor as my grandad. as for you superduper chip you bought, you silly little boy. you just put the final nail in your own coffin. you need an asbestos suit now tit. Rob 137 all day every day! You have brightened my day right up you little w**ker

Rob: Just you wait till I get a chip on my 182. Should easily be pushing out over 220 BHP in a car that weighs just over a tonne!!!

i think this guy is defo messing just for laugh - no-one is that stupid. Who do we know called Rob and isnt a fan of cliosport? Hmmm...

A BMW 318i is a 2.0 litre engine, it is not a 320i, those boys go scooby hunting, I can only dream of owning one!

I am glad ive brightened up the forum for some of you, and others do not quite believe just how fast a 318i can be, but you will learn one day when I catch you!

I am selling my 318i, pm me for details if you think you can handle it!

My new car is a Mitsubishi Carisma 1.8 GDi, I have bought an EVO6 bodykit for it and would you believe it, that ebay chip is a straight swapover, maybe it will also fit a Clio? The performance is near identical to an imported EVO, they also do 112 flat out in 5th!

Rob137 - lol Very funny! who is it anyway?!? Mike C?? Rob fenn?? lol

just going back to the BMW m Roadster point, it was the car that managed to pull away from me (very slightly) when i had my Evo 2

  GDI Demo 182, Rsi Spider

Try using 20w50 oil, and your 5 turbo will not pi55 so much oil all over when you try and keep up with better cars!

BMW is more than a name, its a lifestyle!

I have the official BMW M Sport rally jacket, M sport tie, 3 different colour polo shirts and full buffalo hide luggage set, all from ebay at a fraction of the real cost. Not to mention the umbrella and also a tattoo of the famous badge on my left bicep!

When I go out on an evening fully suited and booted in BM gear, and hang around the local retail park with my wheelz, I am like a magnet to women and boy racer wannabes (mostly clio drivers). They pester me to take them out for a thundering 80mph motorway blast, where they blur reality and think my car is the M3 from hell.

To sum it all up, when I drive slowly through the city at 3am, with my gold plated watch pressed against the window, I look like a millionaire, thats what BM ownership is all about, one day you will all understand!

  Clio v6

Just heard that all primary schools are to have internet terminals installed. Looks like some schools already have it.

Ah righty! LOL.. So THIS is a gripe at BMW owners!! LOL. Who ever the person is thats playing the part of the over obsessed BMW owner likely has a Clio, but now we gotta work out who this is, IF we care!? lol. (Quite funny, but jokes wear thin after a while)

End of the day on topic, I vote Escort Cossie :) (but the V6 is a mighty close runner up)

performance figures of a 318 (before heavy wheels and body kit added)

9.9 s

Power Output:
140 bhp

Keep up wth a cossie? U cant even keep up with a 12 year old valver!

I am not a member of your forum masquerading (dreaming) as a BMW owner, I am a member of several forums and sometimes I decide to put my views forward and educate people.

The reason I call a Clio a student car is that my eldest will be starting at Cambridge Uni next year and I think I will buy him one. Perhaps one of those 12 year old 16v models which start first time every day will do.

I do hope I have not offended anybody on here, you are all such nice kids.

PS: Back on topic, the Clio V6 is my choice, the Escort is old hat but an Audi S3 or Alfa GTA would be worth a test drive too, and whatever you do, dont bother with a BM, they are all driven by pretentious to55ers!

I would seem to be one of the few that has owned both models.

The Cossie was one of the best cars that I had owned at the time. You must remember that in some respects it is a bit dated in this year.

Both cars have performed very well.

The servicing costs of the Cossie were less than the V6, but the running costs were much the same. Insurance, petrol and tyres not much difference.

In its day the Cossie was a centre of attraction, similar to the V6 of to-day.

Both cars need to be used to keep them in peak condition.

I think that the Cossie was quicker that most cars up tom 100mph but lost out as you went quicker.

Would think it would be quite difficult to get a good Cossie in this day and age.

mailto:lol@this">lol@this thread sooo funny!!

you wannt try keep up with me mate?

go on i dare ya

no i double dare ya!

BMW in your mind is obviously a scaled down version of God! Come back when you have come to your sences!!!

GTT (1.4 push rod 8v turbo so you know) is quicker than a valver (1.8 16v so you know ) to 60 IIRC??

in case you are actually a forum membre taking the pi55 then this is the funniest thing ive ever seen in my existance on the board and has gotta be thread of the year!

well i was in this exact position when i bought my V6 in july, i had 18k to spend, and wanted something different and rare.

i had on my list

1. BMW M Coupe

2. 1996/N Escort cossie in theat purple blue colour

3. mk1 V6 clio

i looked at all three cars, the escort was to me too much like my dads 1.3 escort inside, and although it was quick and handled well, i felt like a chav from southend, it is n essexboys car through and through - an image i didnt want.

the BMW was amazing in everyway, extremely fast, sild, and i wanted one, but the V6 clio pipped it solely on the looks and the special feel it has when driving one, plus everybody looks and points at you!

still the escort as a car cant be faulted, but the image it carries was not to my taste.

plus i prefer naturally aspirated engines for reliability and power delivery.

:)

  Vee dub

laughing very hard at those BMW stats!!

My "one of those 16v" student mobiles is quite nippy! lol

5GTT? lol wud love to see your face when this red 17 yr old car flies past! ptttttttssssshhhh!!!!!! :D

Surely a wind up?

seriously though,

both cars turn head are are reasonably similar std, i prefer the escort though and thats coming from a absolute renault nut case!

the big turbo escy cos is a fecking animal waiting to be unleased 330bhp can be attained as easy as pie. and cheap and will be fast enough to take 90% cars to the cleaners no probs :) the clio wont be ludricously fast unless u spend mega wonger even the 255 aint that fast

cossie all the time every time ;)

the sierra 3 door cossie is the ultimate though, the original and best

rwd and capable of scaring the most hardest nut,

the RS500 is even more menacing once u plumb the extra 4 injectors in, all greys, 25psi, engine work, plus that t4 turbo your talking mega mega mega pace

frightening cars , raw dangerous but ultimately a f**king awesome car that will go down in history makes the v6 look very very lame

  Punto/Clio GTT

silly question i know. and a thread hijack. But which is faster 0-60, 0-100 and top end, out of a escort cossie and a sierra cosworth?

FM

depends which sierra you mean, theres a few diff types Sapphire Cosworth 2wd, Sapphire Cosworth 4wd, Sierra Cosworth, and RS500. all slightly different but not sure on stats.

  Embarrassed to say

Go for v6 mate their looks are on a par with a ferrari, surely its worth it for just that. I had a choice of v6 and bmw, i went for the bimmer for alot more money and now wish i choose the v6.

Rob137 can surley not even be old enough to drive judging him be his comments.

The fact even has even put sat-nav in his car description made me laugh.

Final_Maxim some rough times off the top of my head:

0-100 mph

RWD Saff Cossie :15.5secs

4WD Saff Cossie : 17secs

4WD Escort Cossie Large Turbo : 16secs

BMW 318i : 36 secs (is there a road long enough?)
