Clio V6 - Showroom?

Thinking completely outside the box and looking at different options here. Just wondering if it is worth pursuing, suggestions and thoughts, Please.
Currently my Clio V6 (Mk1) is kept in a garage which we rent among a few friends, with changing lifestyles some moving from cars to bikes etc I feel numbers will be dropping fairly soon and I don't need that much space nor can I justify paying the full amount every month.

Just a thought do you think a Renault dealership would be interested in having the car in the showroom? Do actual Renault garages even exist!?

I recall visiting Renault Edinburgh a long time ago (1.2 days) and they had a 197 Cup Racer on display. Appreciate they may not entertain this and there are risks on my part. Just a thought while I look at other options.

Thanks

So - basically you want somewhere free to park your Clio V6?

What would the Renault dealership be gaining from this deal? Other than having to look after/protect/insure your car? Surely they would rather have something in the showroom that they can use to advertise/sell the current range of models?

Sounds like a mental idea to me!

I doubt anywhere that was willing to take them on would not accept responsibility for any damage.
The market is pretty strong for em right now, so if you are forced to sell you'll get a good chunk of change in return.

Easy mate. You are right though. Not sure what they would gain, bit of an ice breaker, something different. Very much doubt they would insure it as I would be responsible for that side of things. Just a thought....even if a mental one.

That's what Beaulieu do isn't it? I recall someone on here had their capri there or something.

Market does seem good but I love my little Clio, I would actually like to keep it forever! However a flat is looming! 😧 / sensible time!

Can you not just downsize and rent a smaller garage? Do you still use the car at all?

I haven't used it this year. I am looking at other options deal we have works out very well but finding something in Edinburgh is easier said than done!

I think the 440 miles from Edinburgh to Beaulieu might be a problem for the OP! :tongueout:

Haha yeah slightly out the way!

Too early a car for a museum as there are a few dotted about outside Edinburgh - another weird thought I had!

Hate to say it and as much as it would look amazing why would they put a car in the showroom they can't sell or make money on ?

They would rather have a £9k Dacia that they could sell that weekend on PCP or in a disability deal than have a car that no one can touch, move or sell.

Unless you know someone who is a dealership principle or someone high up in pendragon (Renault/Dacia Edinburgh) or someone in Arnold Clark (Edinburgh / Stirling) I think you would be chasing your tail.

There's a BMW dealer I think it is, in Sheffield that have had a mk2 XR2 in their showroom for months. I'm sure they have no intention to sell it, it's probably just there to attract people's attention

I'm sure VW garage near us still has an old beetle in the window (has done for a while), also the last time I was in the local fiat dealership they has a classic 500 just as you walked in. This belongs to the owner of the dealership.

As some has said before, you might get free parking but you will also get load of marks on your car. Also the car will be dusted by Doris the cleaning lady using pledge.

All fair points. Like I say it was just a thought! Probably too early a vehicle for a museum to show interest I would have thought.

To be fair. I see where you're coming from. In return for storing your car, they'd probably get people going in to look at it and then get looking at other models, so, sales pitch.

But as others have said. f**k having the general public around it and consuela cleaning it
