Clio vacuum hose

I changed my air filter the other day on my '95 RSi with F3P engine (drum shaped air filter) and I noticed the vacuum hose that should be clipped to the top of the airbox is missing.

What does this do and where has it gone?

When my nephews one got cut in half...it ran lumpy...and nearly cut out.

That's interesting, mine runs lumpy when starting up. Dips down to about 500rpm and then picks up to idle. This goes on for a few minutes after starting up (although not every time)

Yeah we tried putting a cheep slightly smaller pipe on..it didnt like that at all.
Had to pay Renault about £20 for the right one...and it was fine.

Where does it go to/from and what does it do?

I know one end went to the carbon cannister..but it is a different car.
