clio valvers!!!

hiya peeps. can anybody give me a heads up on what to look for when buyiıng a clio 16v? common faults and bodge jobs to look for. any help would be great then who knows i mıght buy yours!!:rasp:

problems normally lie outside the engine though. engine is pretty decent reliability wise.

i've only had problems with gettin the bastid started, due to power problems.

i.e. alternator and battery. otherwise its been fine

(allowing for normal wear and tear, i.e. wheel nuts, drive shafts, road springs etc...)

i might be selling mine at some point. Its in pretty much perfect condition with about 9months MOT and 10months tax on it (at the moment). Has only done 84,000. its a ph.2 M-reg in williams blue. No mods, completely standard. Id be looking around the £1700 mark i reckon. Not many like mine out there anymore.

some common problems seem to be gearbox, steering column (play in the wheel, but can be welded), rusty rear arches and sills. Can't think of too much else other than the usual things to check just now, but get the feeling I've missed a couple of things out. As has been said the engines themselves tend to be ok, it's just other parts such as the gearboxes which tend to go.

in 2 weeks time il be in Caterham, Surrey and then mid september onwards il be back up north in Sheffield (pretty much town centre of)
Im not sure if im definately selling it yet though cos i want a bora v5 and need to come up with the rest of the cash first. Otherwise im well bolloxd with no car! You're more than welcome to have a look though. where bouts is home home for you then? as if you see it in surrey its likely to look much nicer cos it doesn't bloody rain down there, i.e. no pesky water marks
