  clio 1.4 alize
Hi everyone I am new to this sort of thing so please bear with me, I have just got a 2001 clio 16v 1.4 and it has been fine until now. it wont start i have heard it is a fault with the immobiliser etc but i am no mechanic and need some advice, it is a great car but this problem is driving me to despair, idon't think that taking it to a renault dealer will help as i have read that this is a returnable issue please please someone show the direction

thanks Paul...:(

I had the same problem with one of my key fobs wouldnt turn the immobiliser light off..... had to use my spare key to start the car even changed the battery dunno what happend unless they a way when u change the battery you have to have the key in the ignition to re marry the fob to the immobiliser
may be wrong but pleanty of good chaps on here who will help you out with the problem :)

center console button u mean key fob button ? best to stick this problem in another part of forum so others may have a better idea than the AA im sure they alot better than the AA when it comes to a clio they allways helped me out :)

Just get an independant garage involved mate. Ring around and ask them how much a 'Diagnostics plug in for a mk2 Clio' will be. Find the cheapest one and ask for their help.

They may be able to pick up your car, or if they're nearby, you could get your car towed there.

My mechanic charges £25 for a plug in, so not too much money to find out what the problem is. Then they'll be able to quote how much the fix will be and at least you'll know where you stand then.

Just read your initial posts again... you've only had the car for approx a week now?

Did you buy from a dealer? If so take it back to them as you'll have a short term sales warranty with it.
