Cluch dieing ?

:S how can you tell if your cluch is dead or going , in a 172 , , have no idea about this car yet , is the bite piont ment to be right at the top of the peddel jsut before you take your foot off ????

its quite high but not right at the top.

get it looked at

it can damage the geat box and the things if it goes. thats what i was told anyway

They can be adjusted, take it to a garage.

Is there any sign of slipping, to check put it in fifth gear and floor it at 30mph, if the revs shoot up, then thats a sign of your clutch going.

They certainly aren't hydraulic clutches, WAY to hard for a hydraulic. There a cable clutch which can't be manually adjusted as any adjustment is done by the self adjuster on the top of the clutch pedal and that doesn't really seem to do much imo.

Every clio i've driven (mk2 at least) has had the bite right at the top of the pedal just before you take your foot off, had to fit a new clutch to mine and it was still right at the top of the pedal.

I don't think theres anything to worry about, as said just stick it in 5th at 30 and floor it. If the revs rise and the speed doesn't then its buggered, otherwise your fine.

ok well gave it a try between 30 and 40 and in 5th and foot to floor and the speedo went up quicker that teh rev counter , and it was doing about 4 to 5 k at about 80 to 90 + and i over took a lorry from 40 in 5th as well allso seem to do more for fule as well whcih is good , thanks people i would say my cluch is fine , waht about you
