Clutch adjuster picture

I have a picture of a 182 clutch pedal adjuster, not the auto adjuster. A link arm with locking nuts but haven't got a URL to post it.
Could some one help me display the picture then I can ask my question on how to adjust/setup the arm.

I just want to know what the adjuster is for?....how to adjust it for best performance. Renault wouldn't go to all the trouble of putting the 2 x ball joint connecters, thread and nuts if it wasn't for a good reason.

Bit more info.
The picture is of the link arm that connects the top of the clutch pedal, to the clutch cable automatic adjuster. You can remove the link arm off the ball joints and then lengthen or shorten as required. From messing about, It seems to changes the feel of the clutch as well as the position of the pedal..
