Clutch Again!!!!

Right then, remember I had to put the valver in for a clutch?!
Well it came back today and it drives like a piece of s**t, the clutch is juddering when pulling off, my steering wheel is no longer straight and my brakes are fucked. So its going back in tomorrow morning, might get a chance to use it properly before christmas!!! lol
:(
Can anyone please shed any light on how these problems could be resolved? The garage are refusing any responsibility for the steering wheel and brakes.......b******s

ask them how they did the clutch

if they dropped the subframe then they've probably rogered your alingment, check the servo lines for damage

Yeah Fred they dropped the subframe down apparently, will a realignment do the job or is it completely buggered?
The brake pedal is solid but nothing happens, will a good bleeding help?

When I did the gearbox/clutch in my 1.6 I dropped the subframe with sent the alignment off, simple tracking job later it was sorted. With the 1.6 its because the rack bolts to the subframe and you can't get it back in the exact same position without some effort.

Clutch will be juddery as its prolly bedding in, and its possible they got some oil etc on teh friction surfaces.

Dropping teh subframe is very unlikley to send the alignment off unless they dropped it from the high lift ramp.....onto the floor.....Its possible, they woudl ahve had to be very violent though, but its possible thqat they knocked the tracking out whilst removing the track rod ends from teh hubs, other optioin is that they removed the steering rack in order to completely remove teh subframe, in that case chance aare its not back int eh same position.

As for brakes i'll put money on the fact that you have some oil or similar on teh discs/pads from when they toucjhed them when they were removed and it will burn off in time

Just taken the valver for a good drive now and it seems that the juddering is intermittent, it doesnt happen everytime I pull away, Im so confused!!!!
The brakes are back to normal now too

Right then, took the car back to the garage today and apparently the numpty who fitted the clutch didnt put the engine mount back on properly so thats what apparently causing the vibrations on take off. Is this true boffins?

I cant believe that a trainee would be allowed to attempt to do a clutch on a valver in his first few months, I asked for him not to touch the car but he was put on the whole job. Really annoys me

thats why he was put on it, you asked for him not to be. I'd do it, as would anyoen else just to piss you off mate.

Its like a sign for wet paint don't touch, your gonna slap your hand right on it.

All sorted now peeps, drives amazing again! Apparently the engine mount wasnt even bolted back down, but at least its done now tho

I wish my clutch worked right :(

Ever since the garage replaced it, it hasn't been right.

If i try to pull away quickly (ie at lights, junctions, etc), the clutch slips really badly. I tested the clutch by driving at aroudn 30mph, put it in 5th, and floored it, but the clutch didn't slip at all.

Any suggestions as to what it might be? Clutch cable?

Anyone near Leicester that might be able to take a look?

Cheers :(

5th at 30 wont make it slip(well it would if it was royally screwed.), try 40 and 4th and if it slips then its most likely a knackered diaphragm plate(spring gone weak) and in turn buggared the clutch plate.

ALso i have seen a garage put the clutch in the wrong way round!

CHeck that the fork is returning all the way, i.e so you can pull the clutch cable off.

clutch won't slip if its in backwards. they tend to drag then the centre rips out.

Few peopel apart form myself actually check/cange the activation mechanism, the nylon release fork pivot bush wears.

"nylon release fork pivot bush" - What and where is this?

If i had a stretched clutch cable, would that not cause the side effects that i'm experiencing?

Before i had a new clutch, the existing one was **very** heavy, made your leg ache sitting in traffic it was so bad, must've been an uprated clutch. I'm wondering if this could have stretched the cable? I didn't have a new cable fitted with the new clutch...
