clutch cable 172

hi guys my clutch is very stiff when trying to hold the bite etc etc but only when going through town etc so have been told it will be the clutch cable a common thing i believe just wondered do you have to have anthing else fitted at the time just ordering the parts from renault not bad 18.25 plus vat..it is about an hour to fit!!
