Clutch Cable

Car  clio 1.4 16v
Hi all
Just got a 2003 1.4 16v clio but the clutch is really stiff, after reading through all the posts on here I attempted to change the cable but cannot get the thing through the bulkhead no matter how hard I pull it.

Am I missing something or is there an easier way, I assume that you have to pull it through the engine bay then feed the new one from the bay into the footwell, and does the plastic thing that I can feel going through the bulkhead have to be removed.

Thanks
Dave

There is an easier way but I'm afraid it is to fit a new cable when the engine is out (you can just sit comfortably in the engine bay and see it all straight in front of you!). You need to fit a genuine Renault cable in my experience as factor parts when I used one meant I couldn't change gear once the engine got to full temperature. It's possible to do it so just take your time. Take all the old parts out and fit what Renault supplies with the cable.
