Clutch change... Renault Dealer

My 182 is in for a service today at Cross Roads Renault dealer in Oxford. They've just called me and said the "chief mechanic" drove my car from the car park and into the garage and feels my clutch is heavy. Was told I needed it replaced... he quoted £975 inc VAT.

I promptly told him to go stuff himself.

i had to tell an RTE how to fit a gearbox the other week, that was a good one!

divide that price by 3 to give a more accurate cost

Bet he says that EVERYTIME he drives a 1*2 all clutches are heavy !!

How long did he say it takes them to change it ?

7 hours, at £100+VAT per hour of labour.

All clutches on 1*2's are heavy. Unless it's slipping, it doesn't need doing..

Still cheaper labour than I was quoted for a service.

I'll do my clutch myself when it needs doing, f**k paying the dealers for anything other than a few parts.
