Clutch - grinding.... AGAIN

  Not a Clio

clutch cable snapped beginning of this year.. garage replaced cable, i knew the clutch was on its way out too so i had a new clutch fitted week after... clutch was fine for a few weeks, then started grinding, garage couldnt find anything wrong.. few months later cable snaps again.. so they fit a new cable, again its fine for a few weeks now the clutch is grinding again!

What i mean by grinding is, as i push the pedal down i can feel and hear what seems to be a metalic grinding.

Any ideas?

Si.

Maybe the clutch cable is snagging on something.? Might need re-routing?Maybe some grease on the back of the pedal?

Possibly could be the clutch release bearing but this should have been changed when they did the clutch as you get one with the kit.

CLIO16V BLACK??

How much did you pay for a new clutch when you had it done??

And how much was ya clutch cable??

Cheers.

Could be the clutch pedal that is the problem? If i remember correctly they are about £30 from Renault, bit fiddley to fit. I cant image thats its the clutch cable thats at fault. Hope you get it sorted.

CAN SOMEONE HELP ME??? I THINK MY CLUTCH IS ON THE WAY OUT??

My clutch pedal is really stiff to press down, then when you get half way down is just gets really easy and goes to the floor.

But then when ya finding the biting point sometimes its half way up but then another time its really low to the floor. Any ideas what this could be?? I took it to a garage and they said it will have to book it in to have a look. Id like to have an idea before it goes in if poss.

Cheers.

Clio16vBlack = i had the same issues as you m8, clutch cables snapping one after another!! In the end i was getting so pissed changing cables that i decided to take it to reno themselfs - only becuase there work is covered by 1yrs replacment protection if the part fails etc...

Anyway - when i got down to reno to advise of the problem they said to me.... Oh yes, we know of this problem - its a known issue with both the clio 16v & R19 16v. We have re-designed a new ped that takes the stress away from the cable!! (f**king A i thought - ill have some of that) even tho it cost £127.00 fitted!!

now in my mind this should have been a recall !!! however i needed the part fixed ASAP so i left the car - agreed to pick it up later that day.

Got back to the dealership later that day to find some c**k had driven into the side of my car!! (buy reno themselves, but thats another story)

Wrote a few letters to Reno UK about all the issues, and they refunded me back the money for ped fault on the basis it was a design fault and should have been recalled even tho Reno denied this to be a renault problem?!? (spastics - cable aint snapping for nothing is it - if its not a design fault what f**k is it?!) They also paid me £500 for body work damages.

So what im saying m8 - is pay the money for the new ped - then write to Reno UK about the problems you have been having with the cables snapping & about this being a known fault! Reno customers shouldnt have to pay for the manufactors mistakes! They may refund you the money if you make a bigenough fuss (you can use me as ref - as im on there computers with the same fault)

P.S the grinding noise is prob coming from the adjuster behind the ped - this will be replaced when you have the new ped done. (if it dont sort it - just blag um and tell Reno its only been happening since they changedt the cable & ped and that you want it sorted!!)

let me know how u get on m8.

James.

black16v - u may wunna start a new thread about that issue m8 - could be the adjuster not taking up the slack in the cable. Does it click offen when driving?

Rockport- Nah it dont click when driving. Biting point just seems to alter its self one min its half way up next min its right near the floor:confused:
