Clutch Replacement?

I believe i'm going to need a new clutch pretty soon!
would anyone recommend the best place?
its sitting just under 80 k at the moment... very very heavy clutch.

If the clutch was knackered, it would probably have a very very high biting point. When you're in 5th at maybe 30mph, put your foot to the floor (accelerator) and see if it slips. The revs will rise but the car wont speed off...

Heavy clutch is standard in the 172s but on a 1.4 I'd imagine the cable is shagged or catching on something....

ah okay...yeah i saw someone saying about putting it in 5th gear at 30mph and flooring it but there was no slipping ect...
Would you say best to get the cable replaced by a mechanic, or could be done by someone with some car experience?
