clutch sticking ?

driving around today in my peugeot 106 i felt the clutch sticking, by that i mean when pushed in to changed gear it didn't spring back as normal, it travelled about half way back then stuck momentarily then carried on.

At one point it got stuck right at the bottom where i couldnt even press it in.

What am i looking at it? could it be just a clutch cable or potentially the whole clutch needs replacing?

Not 100% how they are driven , if they are cable or hydraulic , but if cable a fraying cable could cause this issue , and if the release bearing is moving on the input shaft well could also cause this issue ! Hope that helps some!
