clutch

am i right in thinkin the clutch on the mk2 ph1 is non adjustable on the bite etc??

i have a problem with selecting gears occasionally at the moment and have been told by a garage that it might be the clutch on its way out. any ideas anyone.

it kinda doesnt let me put the actual gearstick in the gate of the box but the garage still seem to think its the clutch?? :S

any ideas :S

is the clutch slipping? you can accually change gear without the clutch as long as you match the rev's, what gear does it struggle to select? is there a clunk?

no clunk as such, its mainly 2nd gear thats difficult to select but all the gears have a slight difficulty sometimes when putting it in gear. the clutch isnt slipping either. does seem pretty high on the bite though. i do also know that where the gear selector goes into the bottom of the box the seal has failed an traces of oil are on the gear selector etc. no one seems to think this could be the cause though!? i thought it was when i first had it up on the ramps at a mates garage. does anybody know if that seal is simple to sort or whether its a gearbox out job!? and also whether this MAY be the cause?

the oil around where the selector goes in is very common. Most people just leave it. Unless its a lot of oil coming out. Have you checked gear box oil level?

ooo thats interesting i havnt checked the level cos iirc you have to take the plug out and fill it up dont you? so would you say the gear selector is ok and possibly get the clutch done? do you think thats the problem?

i got a crunch nearly every time i selected second when driven in anger, bit like the gears were a tiny bit out of sync, was advised to change the clutch and shes been sweet ever since

yeah i think its probably the clutch. i was lloking at k-tecs group N uprated clutch, anyone have any opinions on it? is it worth it or just get a standard renault one on?

although my gears dont crunch, the only one that does is reverse occasionally, was told this is an early sign of a clutch going?

its so weird that it just doesnt go into gear, not like it goes in but crunches, it just dont go in first time always, very wierd.

got my clutch of company on ebay for £75, it claims to be uprated and seems to be, it has a nice feel to it without bein overly harsh http://stores.ebay.co.uk/clutch-specialists-co-uk and his prices seem to be cheaper now, ask him if its not listed, thats what i did, he seems a helpfull fella

cost me 3 crates of stella, (mate of my dad did it lol) but when iv had them done previously its cost between 70 - 110 for the fitting
