COD online question?

I've never liked COD online and I doubt my view will change much. But I had a quick go on BLOPS earlier, and joined the lowest-pinged, populated server on a Hardcore TDM game.

In I go with little more than an M16 and quickly nail an enemy I spot as I round the corner. Then I get messaged like crazy saying that "...this is a crouched, scoped server only - no standing upright and sprinting allowed".

Seriously - WTF??! Please tell me I just happened to stumble across a server run by freaks and that this isn't a common occurence? Why on Earth would you spend a 15-20min round in COD, simply shuffling along at a snail's pace and looking through the scope/iron-sights?

I'm still scratching my head at this one..... :S

As sad as it might be but I played on a few "sniper" only maps similar to this on COD4. They were Massive modified maps and I mean massive.

Custom maps with 1 vs 1 or 2 vs 2 etc. I only played a few mind you as I was s**t! I spent 20 mins tracking someone out and finally found him, got to a place to take my shot and as I scoped in he nailed me. apparently ha been watching/tracking me for 10 odd minutes.

IT was kinda fun but the crouch/shuffling one sounds weird as fcuk.

On a separate note sniper rifles are ruining COD. The way they just zoom and shoot instantly really pisses me off. You can get killed even at point blank range within 1/4 of a second.
