Coil Pack advice?

  Impreza WRX
Im off out to have a look now at which 1 of my plugs is the problem, (seem to be running on 3 cylinders).

I know bugger all about mechanics, so is it just :-

Start the engine.

Remove one of the leads from the plug

If no change in engine, thats the faulty 1?

I've checking my coil pack first, bought a new one from 24-7breakers. Should arrive tomorrow. I have the same issues, as if its only running on 3 cylinders!! Addling the engine wobbles forwards and backwards!!

I've said this before and might be totally wrong here, but I was having similar problems and it turned out to be my MAP sensor (after checking leads, plugs, coilpack and changing the O2 sensor).

Does it hesitate when you accelerate and revs drop on idle almost to it cutting out?
Do the exhaust fumes smell rich?

thanks guys, DA exhaust fumes stink my car out with a decat, havent really noticed the smell different. Hopefully an easy sort for me, paid 860 for engine work last december when cambelt snapped, only done 2000miles since!! i love my life!! lol

The top right one, when I removed the car was exactly the same with it plugged in, but the other three, when I removed them and tried to start the engine it was really really struggling, its either the coil pack, that cable or the spark plug.

Sparks were arcing when it was removed so i dunno if its fooked or not. But the coil pack is being delivered today, hopefully when I change it, everything will be fine!!
