Coilover fitting....

Fingers crossed my GAZ coilovers should be arriving at some point today. If Anyone has any advice or tips/common problems when fitting them it would be much appreciated, am imaging its pretty straight forward, but somehow when it comes to renaults things never seem to go smoothly. lol.

Havent got one of them no, but the cars only 9months old so the bolts shouldnt be too hard to shift!!

Dont need spring compressors on a 172 or 182 Andy, and i thought you were a pro. As above no special tools as such but the front topmounts will ideally need a swan neck spanner so you can put an allen key into the top of the strut to stop it spinning in the body of the car.

spring compressers are handy , as when i did mine n u take the nut off top of old springs it does spring out towards u , no bigg though.

they also came inhandy when the coilovers were faulty n didnt fit

They're required on a non sport but on a 172/182 there is no need at all. Fred has done dozens of cars and not used them, and ive swapped over a couple of sets and not used them, save the money for getting the alignment done afterwards.

Cheers for the above guys gonna start them now.

i'm not telling you too suck eggs but i'd get the coilovers set-up properly once you've fitted them, the amount of people who have coilovers just so they ca drop it on its arse is unreal i had mine laser levelled and the handling is awsome

Quick question about coilovers, does it affect the tracking everytime you lower or raise the ride height?

Yes, although most people set to one height and never adjust it so its not an issue.
The back is fixed though so no adjustment availiable (you can use shims but you shouldn't need to).
