Coilover noises

Calling all those running coils.

Does anyone get a clunking like the sound of a spring? Mine's been doing it for a while now, nothing that worries me, just a mild noise when going over speed bumps etc. I don;t get any noise from general driving so hopefully it's not the shocks.

I have twisted the springs about before and it cured it, seems to come from when I've had the car jacked up. Could it be a natural noise from movement?

They are probably due a service sometime soon as they've covered around 60,000 (although H&R say after 160km).

could be the top mounts?? are they the ones that were on the car from new? covered 100k?

Front or rear? im guessing front - i get the odd noise/creak from the LEDA's but like you say nothing that worries me.

How quickly to springs wear out? might need some new race coils?

I never know what noises could do what, it's more like a 'pong' you'd get from a spring. I always get paranoid when my renault mate is giving her a once over and he says to shut up as it's nothing, lol.

I still need some more info from ms tuning, the lazy fcukers still haven't got back to me from over a month ago!

I think coilovers just make more noise because they are so stiff, I just fitted stiffer springs and theres been a few odd sounds, maybe that just settling down...

Who's ms tuning, a company to service the H and R's?

www.mstuning.co.uk/ are apparently the sole distributor for the uk?! but they never seem that helpful when i speak to them. maybe i should dust off the german language book and call direct.

we always check the top mounts fred and they're fine. perhaps it's just movement like you say dave. probably just spring noise though tbh. a service wouldn;t go a miss though, just need to know what the charge and postage would be and if it's cost effective over a new kit?? i'm pretty sure they'd be shipped to germania.

you'd be quicker building a pyramid on your own by hand than getting any joy out of mst tbh!

iv tired to get some information on H and R race springs but never got a decent reply so gave up.

its £75 per damper for a service on the LEDA's, revalving is and extra £20 all + vat and postage charges - prices from emp techology who took over LEDA.

Any news on this cos my rear shocks seem to be clonking quite alot lately. Its getting a bit annoying. It does just sound like the spring creaking on the adjuster though
