Coilovers

What are peoples thoughts about the bilstein,H & R's and also has anyone tried KW (or any others), suppose it would be really usefull to speak to someone whose tried 'em all really? My car (182 Cup) is used everyday for work and will also be used extensively on track days. Leda's at £1200........:nono:

i'm currently swinging towards the KW myself, although i may save some money and get some cheap and cheerful FK's as i doubt my car will ever get any proper tracking and i might want it lower than KW's can provide (20mm max at the rear). i was talking to dave on here who had some KW variant 1's who was more than happy with them, and said he'd have them again unless he wanted to lower the car more - in which case he'd have got H&R's.

so really depends how much you fancy spending at the end of the day

koni build quality crap.
doubt it. you go on the ford rsoc site & ask what they got on there cars.
80% of them will say koni ajustables or koni coil overs.. i had them on my old erst & i couldnt fault them good ride quality & excelent handling..

springs are different poundage.... and i *think* they have a firmer damper set up

I went through all of this a few weeks back when I was looking. From talking to a lot of people the general consensus was the H+R's are better for a road car, but Billies are a firmer and better suited to the track! I had about a grand to play with and ended up buying some FK's (£400), and had them fitted and camber/alginment fully checked (£200) and bought a K-tec exhuast with the change!! For what I use the car for the FK's are perfect and are not anywhere near as harsh as ppl make out. They only seem to suffer from a lack of suspension travel on lumpy b-roads but this will go for any car/coil-over due to their lower ride height! Now I'm used to the handling I love them (and the exhaust sounds great!!).

thats not the case with h&r's they handle bumps better than standard

How much can you lower the car are H+R and how much on FK's?

Where would be the best place to get them from? (Price wise)

  Turbos.
2modified are cheapest for FKs...

FKs will go lower, but the H&Rs go low enough really. The adjustable FKs have a perfectly ok ride, and they're still cheaper.

Just had a look on 2 modified, thats a really good price!

Prob a stupid question but...... Can you access the dampers to adjust the height without removing the wheels?

its setting coilovers as low as possible that gives the harsh ride if your on smooth tarmac race tracks all the time its alright but when your on bumpy B roads theres no re-bound
