Coilovers

  Clio 182 cup
Hi guys my misses has got a bit of a issue she brought some prosport coilovers because she just wanted the car to sit a little bit lower, she's had them fitted by a garage and ever since when she's turning at low speed it makes a awful clunking noise, she had the top mounts and everything inspected by a different garage and they have said either installation fault or manufacturing fault. What's more likely?

Sounds like spring jumping in its top cup. When you turn the wheel the spring should turn, but with the top cup, which should be held against the top mount (the one inside the strut tower) through a bearing. Without the bearing the coil over top up will try to stay still as you turn the wheel, the spring will wind up a little and jump. Either not bearing OR the coilover top is in contact with the rubber top mount before the bearing is. Would need taking out to check really.
