cold weather + alarm = problems

  Clio 172 Ph2

Ive never had a problem with my alarm going off but now the damn thing wont stop! I went to get in it tonight and it beeped at me meaning it had gone of lastnight or earlier on today.

Within the past hour is has gone off 3 times! I cant be arsed to go down stairs and open the car door (once unlocked), so its just arming itself again....and then eventually going off again!

Doh!

Neighbours are gonna be well happy with me in the morning!

i had the same turned out the alarm was wired up wrong.

first tho cjheck all winows an doors are shut an the vents too.

may also be the bonnet switch i was told these are a common prob.

this weather it may be a water prob??

the above are what i was told to check when i had my prob. you can turn the internal sensors off. this stopped mine!

It seems to happen more when the car has bin on a good run and the blowers have bin on! mine seemed to be as the engine cooled down!

As a side note, I cant lock and then immediatly unlock / open my doors.

The doors unlock / open just fine, but the alarm doesnt de-activate itself.

I can see the internal sensors picking me up as the door opens because the led goes ballistic!

The only way I can do it is wait for the lock the doors led to go off (next to the hazards) AND THEN unlock the doors / open them.

If I dont do that, I start the engine and I get a single long tone before the alarm eventually goes off!

Its been like that since day 1 but only when Pete_172 got his 172 did I realise it wasnt a common thing - his is fine.

Maybe it was just a problem with earlier 172s? mine is a 52 plate, he has a 53.

Any ideas on that one?!

By turning the ignition on and off twice as Chris suggested, you will turn off the interior sensors that detect movement (Designed so that you can lock the car with windows down)

Do this then lock the car and see if it goes off again. If it doesnt it could possibly be something as simple as hot air circulating round the interior, setting it off. Try driving along, getting rid of the hot air before you park up, and test it again setting it normally. If this works then it could just be that the sensitivity is too high, and needs adjusting.

If it still goes off........its fooked mate!!!!!!
