colour coding standard bumpers????

hi there guys, ive just been given a mk2 ph1 1.4 16v, all ive done is put on a nice set of 15''s and dropped it 40mm but the standard bupers suck with the whole grey band round the top,
if i sprayed the grey plastic bits would it look good and would the paint take to it or does it need a lot of prepping. any ideas??? cheers:S

Would need to key it, primer it, spray it then lacquer it to get a decent looking finish.

Could be done without all that, but it would most likely look terrible or peel...

key it as in ruff it up bit with sand paper or sumin? im knew to the whole modding scene lol

Yer, loads of primer (wet sand a lot), paint a bit (maybe wet sand first coat), lacquer till it matches.
