colour coding

im a bit new to the whole car modding scene and i was wondering, what are people taking about when they say colour coding, what actually happens and is it expensive?

Its getting the Black Plain Plastic Parts suchas Door Handles and Bumper Trims sprayed the same Colour as your Car

how easy is it to do, i got the black plastic trims on my car and id think it would look pretty good all the same colour

If you're good with Rattle Cans then not too hard BUT I just took the GF Bits to a Local Bodyshop as I know the Owner

Am I right in saying that you have to notify your insurers when you colour code your car's parts?
Thinking of doing the bumpers on mine, either that or getting some pre-colour coded ones from the scrappy.
