Iv just brought my RB 182 Iv got £150-£200 to get cleaning gear! I want dodo juice I need every think I have a hose and buckets!! I'm not using my old stuff on this beautie!!

Ooh, this is like a 'spec me' thread for detailing geeks! I've not got the knowledge or patience bur a couple guys will probably enjoy compiling a list for you.
 
Dodo juice aint the cheapest. Not gonna get too much with that price.
 
JD is both tired, still hungover (read ill) and very busy this week. I'll put together a list when I get time lad, but in the meantime Gally and Lew can help you out.

I want wax clay the lot!! I do just want dodo juice!! 200quid was just a rough price there can be a little bit more but not much!!!

Mix and match. Some products that aren't Dodo juice are better products.

For example, Tardis is probably miles better than Dodo Juice's equivalent product.
 
I am guessing you have gone brand crazy, dont worry its normal, I did it with Zymol.

At the end of the day, its only about what you like and what you are happy using

Absolutey this. I've started building my collection up again and I literally have listed what I need (shampoo, applcators, MF cloths, etc) and then popped over to DW and used the search function to read what people recommend.

Also, as said, what 99 people think is fantastic you might just not get on with sometimes it is just trial and error. Dodo Juice is a very fashionable product at the moment so people seem to want it just for the name and not necessarily for its quality. It's generally good but there are a lot of good products out there...

You'll want:

Wash mitt
Shampoo
Clay
Degreaser / All Purpose Cleaner
Wheel cleaner (may get away with APC and shampoo)
Wheel brush / Mitt
Drying towel
Microfibre cloths
Wax / polish applicators
Polish (by hand I assume)
Wax / Sealant
Trim restorer / protector
Tyre dressing
Wheel sealant (can be same as your chosen wax / sealant if good durability)
Glass polish / cleaner
Metal polish if exhaust pipes on view

Have I missed anything, except all the interior goodies?!?

Wax and sealent is the last process...A wax goes on last and is made of ..ermm wax :o

Sealants are synthetic based waxes in effect and again go on last, some people like to put a sealant on before wax...it all depends on what you are using.

A glaze goes on after polish and before wax/sealant and contains mostly fillers (I think) to help fill in minor swirls and bring out some shine before waxing/selant.

You don't NEED a glaze in your Arsenal of goodies.
 
Ive just brought some COLLINITE 476. so I put some on yesterday and couldnt get it off, so I only did my bonnet and wing. Is it supposed to be so hard to get off, i wont be using it if so because it took me about 25mins just to get the stuff off
 
Am no expert but this is what i gather. A glaze enhances your polish it also fills minor imperfections such as swirls. A wax seals and protects your polish and paintwork. It makes washing your car easyier as the dirt sits on top of the wax and not your paintwork. Am not sure on the difference between a sealant and a wax but they do the same job a wax is more common but you dont have to apply both.

They should be applied in this order.

Polish - should be applied with a polish pad (theres different cut pads to use this depends on how bad the impections your trying to get rid of)

Glaze - microfiber applicator

Wax - foam applicator
 
Glaze, Sealant and Wax can all be used in sequence is my understanding but you can survive without glaze if it's been polished and the sealant / wax can be fairly interchangeable. Sealant seems to offer less gloss, more flake, and is generally more durable (engineered product). Wax is glossier, more 'stunning' but less durable as it's a natural product. I could be totally wrong though...

I was thinking of the guy and his budget!

Collinite - I imagine you put it on too thick Jordi. Anything you have to remove is wasted product so you want to apply it as far and thin as possible.

I thought (happy to be corrected ) that's if it's too cold wax's shouldn't be applied.

Lol you made the rigght choice in wax then. A wax isnt meant to come off easy, why did you put it on if you wanted to take it off. Most APC will remove it.

My guess would be that the wax was too cold. I am not a user of Collinite products, but at this time of year, I really need to melt my Zymol in the palm of my hand before applying. I know that Zymol recommend this anyway, but I just feel such a plonker massaging my car lol

could be, but surely the more I stick on the better shine? Its a odd wax because its hard like a candel, normally use megs but like i say this was a pain to get off which put me off it straight away

what do you mean, youre supposed to take it off with a microfibre cloth. not leave it on there, why would you leave it on

Collinite 476 is known for being a good winter wax an is also known for its durability as i said a wax isnt meant to be taken off easy. Youll find every decent wax should take some effort to remove. Most anti purpose cleaners should remove it.
 
Sorry a thought you wamted to remove the wax completely. So you mean it was hard to buff off?

I applied with a polishing cloth, then went to buff off with a microfibre and couldnt get it off, was pushing hard thought it was going to dent ffs. Got annoyed in the end so used my megs wax
 
Doesn't work that way mate. You apply lots of layers of wax over a day or two:

Apply thin layer, let it cure for a bit, remove.
Leave for a bit.
Apply another thin layer... etc.

It's like a candle because it is wax. The cold could also play a part as it needs to be going on a relatively warm surface.
