Command & Conquer Generals 2

Know we have some C&C fans on here, but just got an email to say about the new generals 2.

Didn't even know it was in development, hopefully they won't screw this one up like they did C&C 4. However with Bioware onboard, who so far have never released a game I didn't like it could be quite promising.

Liked Generals, units were kept basic. Ive had Red Alert 3since release but never played it (wont beat RA 2)

They usually run on low spec computers too which is good for people like myself who dont upgrade often

Generals was my favourite of the C&C franchise - well, the one I put most time into overall, anyway. As wozzaa says - with Bioware at the helm, things can only look promising. So long as they employ ZERO staff from the C&C4 debacle.

To be honest the fact Bioware put out The Old Republic is the only reason I am giving it a go.

If they even get a little bit of how mass effect plays into the game it will have me hooked for hours. The Mass Effect games I have played so much.

Yep. Mass Effect was good. But ME2 was a real benchmark, imo.

EXACTLY Seb. What is the frigging point?? It will be another half-assed, worthless piece of online-only crap like C&C4 was. C&C was always about the SP campaigns - take those away and you're removing one of the core values of the franchise.

Fecking EA messing about with things again - things that should be left well alone. Next week they will be introducing the square tyre - because for some reason, the round one that we all love and have used for years, needs to get a revamp.

Not sure what the point of this game is now...unless truly gearing up for some mass scale RPG esque come RTS come FPS hybrid. The idea sounds a bit daft but with Bioware working on it, I have some faith (although their specialism isn't in FPS or online...)

I bought Red Alert 2 yesterday for £1.50!

My favourite has always been Tiberian Sun, GDI Vs NOD. so good!

The fact that Bioware have their fingers in this C&C pie, might at a pinch, make it worthwhile. It would be a remarkable achievement if they manage to pull it off though. The lack of SP campaigns is just crazy. Even the grand-daddy of them all, Dune 2 - had 9 levels to work through. My biggest fear however, is the 'play for free' bit. That's b****cks. It is now and it will be in the future. Sure, you can play for free - but your units are on par with the national guard of Zambia - going toe-to-toe with kids who have hammered their parents' Visa card and have the combined military might of America and China. Basically, you'll get shafted. Dry. And on repeat.

Yeh these "free" games basically mean "re-mortgage your house unless you want to get shafted". I think there is a massive tide of consumer resent towards them too...no advantages for us, only games companies. The whole model sucks!

Always been a massive fan of the C&C series, although a bit divided with the games.
Loved C&C, Tiberian Sun, C&C3 & RA1, however didn't like RA2 & RA3 at all. Never bothered with C&C4.

Never tried Generals actually. Will have to give this a go when it comes out.

I don't you could ever top the original Red Alert & C&C though. Used to play the same Skirmish on the same map on Red Alert over and over.

They were even better when the mods came out! Instant build ftw

I remember I'd always create a map giving me loads of ore and sticking the enemy on an island accessible only by a bridge, which I would obviously immediately destroy lol

I used to download the user created maps for generals. Had some great skirmishes on them.

tiberium sun was my first ever online game. Me and a mate used to play it until 3/4am in the morning LOL
