Common fault with seats?

The lumbar support on my drivers seat broke on weekend when the car was being driven, i accellerated hard and the extra pressure on the seat made the cable inside go ping! Now my seats got no support at the bottom of the back.

Is this a common fault? Anyone else had this problem?

Ive been told by renault its a good few hundred pounds to fix.

Is it dangerous if i have a crash im thinking it might be because there's a lack of support for the spine.

Whats my best option now? There's no way im paying that much to get it repaired!

Im thinking either try to get a second hand seat from a scrappy or somewhere or get buckets. Or just get the recaro trendlines but they expensive!

You could strip the seat cover off and fix it is the easy option.

Or easier leave it or buy one of these back mounts that you see advertised for older people to give a bit more back support.

Wouldn't I have to get an upholsterer or someone to do that for me?
