Complete Rebuild Manuals

Is it possible to get hold of complete rebuild manuals for the 172 engine & gearbox? I'm quite tempted to get hold of a spare/scrap engine/gearbox and completely strip and rebuild them. No particular reason, other than to learn and see if I can do it.
