Currently got my DVD player connected to the LCD via scart (not RGB as the digibox is using that) and I guess component (and thus pro-scan) will give me better results?

The QED Qunex P-CV1 Component is the one i have and as with all other QED cables, its awesome. Not the cheapest but you will see a massive improvement in colour depth and clarity when using top notch cables throughout your system
