Computer shows --- when low on fuel !

Hi

I have a Ph2 DCi 100 and when the fuel light comes on the trip computer shows that I have 80 miles left in the tank.

Problem is that a few miles later the computer shows I have --- miles left in the tank so I then have no idea how many miles left, is this normal.

When I fill up - all is back to normal until the fel gets low and then again --- is displayed.

My 172 cup does the same, get to about 60 miles left and it just displays ---

this is normal dude, this happens at the reserve level of fuel, its to stop people going as far into the red as possible and potentially running out of fuel, towed a guy in a 5 series bmw TWICE after he ran out of fuel, he said "but the computer said i still had 2 miles worth left!" hope this helps.

60? Bloody hell you're fruggle with the accelerator!

It goes off when you have less than a gallon left in the tank - mine usually goes off at about 30miles left.

mine goes down to about 25m then goes off. Easier just to bung some in rather than trust trip comp.

It's a bit of a pain as 80 miles is loads of driving for me before I have to fill up

my cup light comes on when i have 30 miles left showing on the clock does the same every time i generaly fill up then lol
