Concrete Answer If Possible

Hello all

Can somebody give me a definate answer on the watts and size of my speaker in my Clio MKII PH II Dynamique?

I want to uprate them to a higher power speaker, but the same size so I dont have to do any cutting.

There are 2 up front and 2 at the back.

the rating has nothing to do with it

If I do not know how powerful they are, how do I know if the ones Im going to replace them with are more powerful?

wen i fitted my alpine speakers i had to cut the pod int the front to make em fit and theres about 1mm between them and the window when its down so nice and tight i duno bout the back cuz i aint done em yet

yeah thats all you need to know is the maximum mounting depth allowable before you get in the way of the window

gee where u from, i recomend components in the front and if u goto bass junkies walsall, the bloke in there (kelvin) will tell u the best speakers to have an will also fit ur components up front and coaxials in the rear for about £25, if you tell him that dan with the black clio sent you he will more than likely do em cheaper!

Hi mate, Im from Huddersfield, not sure where Walsall is.
What are coaxials and does anybody know the maxium depth?

well components as you can see in your dash top there are two tweeters one each end work as the speakers in the front doors just do low pitched sounds i think and the tweeters in the dash do the high pitch. Coaxials in the back do both high pitch and low pitch! I think thats the best way to explain em. Also I dont know the max depth you can have but like i say but i went for infinity kappa speakers an they fit fine and are real good speakers, next thing is to get em amped!

Thanks for that, I kinda get what you mean.
Im thinking of getting a Fusion amp and sub package so maybe I should go for some fusion speakers too?
My amp will be professionaly installed, may as well get them to do the speakers too?
When they fit the sub should I get them to amp the speakers?
I thought it was OK to use the amp just for the sub?

I dont have to disconnect my tweeters either do I? Will they blow or anything when I get my speakers and sub amped?

If you get components in the front they come with uprated tweeters for the dash. Dont put co-axials in the front, it will f**k the sound, think it might be because there is a crossover in the front. In other words it will try to send low sounds through your tweeter and f**k it up, thats what i found anyway.

If they are amped it will sound much better, you wont blow anything as long as you have the gain at an acceptable level

i know its very temping to just change your speakers for better quality ones, but you wont notice much of an improvement, and sometimes they will sound worse. basically if you use the amp built into the head unit, cheap and chearful speakers are probably best, as they dont require much power to get them moving. if you amp the standard speakers they will sound much cleaner. if you then change the speakers, because they are already amped, you will notice MUCH more of an improvement.

if you dont know what i mean, check your headunit out. it might say it puts out 4x40watts max, but check out an alpine amp that puts out 4x100watts max, and look at the size difference. also, using component speakers require more power than coaxials as the crossover soaks up some of the power being given to the speaker.

another thing to note...a lot of the time some standard set ups seem to sound louder than a decent set up thats had a few hundred or even more spent on it due to them distorting more. if you go into a night club, it sounds fairly loud due to the ampunt of distortion being sent through to the speaker.

Anybody agree with this? Maybe I should just amp them up when I get my sub and amp?

If you have a good H/U, a set of speakers will defo improve sound over the w**k std. ones. But no doubt that amping will make sound even better!! My Alpine sounded very good with a set of 2 way comp.(Alpine spr.) but ivé now got a 2 ch. amp. and the qual. of sound is truley awesome.
