Condensation in Headlight!!

  Clio 172 & Fabia vRS
I noticed i had some condensation in the headlight a few weeks ago but it cleared up with no problems amd tbh never thought about it since. Yesterday during the heavy rain i noticed it had done it again, except this time the full light was covered.

It seems to have got into the Ballast pack and need a new one (again )

Just wandering if anyone else has this problem and if so where its coming from? Think i need to reseal it or just look out for another headlight unit?

Cheers.

me two notice its worse when car is on hill its annoying when full headlight come on drive around for a bit and then reset light (on off on) it will come on in the end.

same happened to mine, got a couple of large silica gel bags and put them behind bulb holder for a couple of weeks and that seemed to cure it.

storm rider? has had his covers removed to color code the inserts so fire him a pm,
what I did (as i was sick of the condensation) i poured a touch of salt in through the bulb hole hasnt steamed up since on the downside is that the salt/water has crystalised so theres loads of white bits in the light unit wooops:eek: doesnt really bother me anyways

What i would suggest!! is get them lil silica packets from new trainers and attach a bit of string to them and put them inside the light unit. use the string to pull them out after a few days/weeks when its dried up

As said, a small bag of silica crystals (as you get in shoe boxes etc) strategically placed will absorb all the moisture.

Make sure the rubber seals are fitted correctly too.

Best thing to do to dry them out is remove the bulbs from the back of the lamp, Cover the front of the lamp in Cooking foil and gently heat the foil with a hair dryer so you get a nice even heat over the front of the head lamp.

The Condensation will evaporate out the holes in the back of the lamp unit where the bulbs fit in.

Then just refit the bulbs.
