Considering sacking off the car all together.

Give it a try for a while, and see how you get on.

If you hate it, you can always buy another car.

To be honest, I could live without a car. I could walk or cycle to work, and the OH has a car if/when we need one, and I'm insured on it. I drive to the gym FFS!

On that basis, I doubt I'll have the 370 for much longer, it's such a collossal waste of money for the amount I use it.

I want something cheap to run.

I tried life without a car. I sold my ph1 172 because I was going to uni and I got a good price for it. I ran a shitter for 4 months then sold that when I actually moved to uni. I thought I wouldn't miss a car whilst I'm at uni, hell I'd have nights out when I wanted, students girls everywhere.

Within 2 months I bought my MX5. I love not being restricted, I can go where I want when I want. Most of all though I love cars and driving and won't give it up.

As I say, sell it and see how you get on.

I don't see the problem.

If you find that you hate being carless (which I suspect you will), buy another one. Otherwise, do without.

I know exactly how you feel. I just see my car as an expense now. I get really pissed off when I see how much a tank full costs.
I'm seriously thinking about binning it for one of those Smart shoe boxes.

Get a bike and cycle to places to cut down your fuel bill, then you could go on a limited mileage policy maybe. Your on a car enthusiast forum you clearly like cars too much not to have one.

Get the train to work, use the car for social only. Therefore it seems like less of a "tool" and you can perhaps start enjoying it instead.

Yeah I think that's the plan.

I"ll keep it until Feb when the insurance runs out. How much I drive it between then and now is currently unknown.

Wish I'd suggested that 2 pages back. Oh wait...

Lol.

I keep thinking the same but then I realise that I would be lost without it. I travel to work on train and this week I have driven a grand total of 11 miles but without those 11 miles I wouldn't have been able to go see my mate. Next week I'll drive 15 miles to see my parents. I need my car

This, mine has done 17miles since last saturday. Those 17miles were pretty pointless but fun!

Dont be stupid and get rid, youll miss it.

i couldnt be without a car, i've tried it and it was torture. The nearest decent supermarket is a 40 minute walk, no direct trains or buses to work and my mates and family are are at least 5 miles away so it just wouldnt work. I had no car for a few days in the snow and i thought i was going to top myself.

im bored of fast cars too, i always said id never get like this because the difference in running cost between my 1.2 and 172 wasnt that different, then i got a DCi and the difference was massive, massive enough that my un refined, 172 with no toys that is quick has too many trade offs compaired to my cumfy, quiet, resonably quick, cheap to run dci thats loaded with toys!, ive got it up for sale so i can then trade the dci for something like a meg 250 or mazda 3 mps but now i think ill just cut about in the dci for a few years!

you will drink more if you get rid!! i guarentee!! lol,
i no longer ever have that "ill not have a drink incase i need to drive later" moments! which tbh is really nice of a sunny sunday afternoon!

ive not owned a car for 4 months now and tbh im quite enjoying not having the financial drain of running a car!!
ordering food online is easy and pretty good tbh.

of course you're going to miss it sometimes, but lets face it, you can always buy another car!!

i do have occasions when my mates go out for a little B-road blast when i cant wait to drive again, but im still a massive enthusiast!!

Funny really, I went for 12 months without a car after selling the 182 and moving abroad.
Didn't really need a car, but a mate was leaving and offered me his old car for pennies.
That lasted 7 weeks before the gearbox died, but I had to go out and get a new car within a few days!
Seems weird, but after not having a car for a year and being fine, I now drive my car every single day and feel as if I couldn't be without it!
