Coolant level all over the place...

  RB 182
I’ve noticed over the past week or so that in the mornings my coolant level is sometimes below midpoint even after over 25-30min of driving, I know it normaly takes only a few min to get upto temp as I go straight onto the highway from my house and for a long period of time.

This morning it was the same, but I have also noticed that going down hill slowly or accelerating it is dipping up and down quite a bit on the gauge… Never above mid point but always below....

Is this just a simple case of topping it up? Or something a bit more serious? Either that or i'm still drunk :S lol

I had exactly the same problem on Sunday driving back from Plymouth, would like to know if this is a typical Renault "quality" issue or something else?!

Level or temp?

The gauge shows coolant temp. Going up and down is a know issue with the sender gauge/sender wiring a fair few threads on here about it.

i have a problem where mine is leaking from somewhere and it has been since i have owned the car (12 months). it has been in and out of renault more than a flashers pants go up and down..

its had a new h/gasket because they said it had a small hole in it and its still spraying from somewhere, now they think it is a sensor so it will be back in at the end of the week, thats if mine is back from the body shop then:dapprove: .

only good thing to come out of it was that renault gave me a whole new exhaust (apart from the back boxes) for free as it started to blow at about 27k:):)

Yeah i meant the temp sorry

Thanks for the help. If its a problem then does that mean the engine could be overheating and giving out false readings? Will give the garage a call later on!
