Coolant Water Wetter? anyone used it (looks like a gimmick)

172 Cup & Clio dci Van
Anyone used this for any of there cars / projects etc?

I am guessing its a gimmicky product a bit like the s**t you get in halfords 'octane booster' shart? waste of time?

30ºF reduction ?

Reason i ask is, going down ITB route in next month or so and looking at little bits n bobs that 'might' help reduce engine temps/heat soak you name it etc.

Will be doing a complete flush on my coolant system and refill with some nice fresh stuff, just thinking is it worth chucking a bottle of this s**t in?

its quite good apparently, but not really needed on a clio, as long as your cooling system is sound, just stick to normal coolant with a 50/50 mix

i might chuck a bottle in for good measure. But will test before and after coolant temps etc to see for myself if it is beneficial. post up my findings.

cheers Fred

I used it on my Fiat Coupe20VT once I installed a front mount intercooler as it was covering a percentage of the radiator, didnt see the point in using it otherwise beforehand!

A friend who's into drag racing uses it in his highly modded Skyline turbo. He said data logging showed an improvement of a couple of degrees C after putting some into his vehicle.

It is used alot in track cars and racing cars. Your Radiator and fan can only take away so much heat from the engine coolant, so your thermostat on its own technically cannot keep the engine as cool as water wetter, it contains a special fluid chemical mixture that mixes with the engine coolant to keep it cooler than a standard engine rad and fan assembly can achieve, don`t ask me about the chemistry involved because I don`t know.
