Can Anybody Shed Some Light On This Problem, My Rad Cooling Fan Has Ceased Working And The Interior Heaters Won't Go Off, Im Thinking The Heater Blower Fan Is Compensating For The Lack Of Rad Fan Because The Coolant Runs Through There Also. Does Anybody Know How To Fix This Problem? Chers!

Ok so we don't see every topic.

So your internal heater is just pumping out hot dair then?

Try sticking a small battery to the fan see if its still working most likly your fans not comming on as it doens't need to as the heater is sucking all the heat up.

Yes Thats Right, Ive Done Some Research And I Think Its A Leak From The Heater Matrix On The Bulkhead As Ive Had Wet Footwells A Few Times, Thought It Was Rain Leaking In But This Sounds More Like It. Going To Get The Matrix Out 2moz N See What The Crack Is. Excuse The Pun! Does Anybody Know Of Any Other Explanation For This Bizare Activity?, I Wouldnt Mind But Im f**king Cooking In My Car. Cheers!

If the heaters leaking then you'd need to top the fluid up?

Yes Ive Lost Half The Cooling Fluid Already But If I Top It Up Wont I Just Get Wet Feet Again? If It Is A Leak I Need To Find It B4 Topping Up My Coolant. Does This Sound About Right That If Its The Matrix It Would Leak Into My Footwells?

Thinking about this check you have got fluid going to the radiator it might just the the heater matric is being used as a radiator as the thermosta isn't working.

Ok Cheers Ill Check The Rad Aswell 2 Moz See If Its Got Water In. Is The Thermostat Easy To Check?

if you can get to it and remove it then yes its easy to do... get a kettle, boil water, drop the bell end of the stat into the water and see that it opens.. if it does its ok, if it only opens a little its poop, if it doesnt open it might be that its feck or the waters to cold, in which case boil the stat in a saucepan..

you can check your rad thermostatic switch by bridging the wires on the connector to it.. this will be on the rad somewhere in most cases, this will cut the fan in, of not its fooked or the rad motor is..

check the fan by running 12v direct to it and an earth, it its not running its poop..

well for foooook sake if you are running with this problem make sure you keep re filling it, no water = new head, you will overheat and blow the headgasket, then it is costly, re skim may be necessary, gasket set etc etc.

This Is Really Pissin Me Off Now.
Replaced Thermostat Today Even Though It Seemed Fine. Had The Car In Bits, Checked For Leaks In The Heater Matrix Its Not That.

When The Car Gets To Temp The Rad Fan Now Kicks In But The Rad Is Freezin The Water In The Rad Isnt Flowing Through The Engine. However The Water To The Heater Matrix Is Scalding Hot. If The Thermostat Isnt Blocking The Flow To The Rad I Cant Understand Why The Rad Remains Freezing.

Sounds like the water temp sender unit may be broken that tells the fan to come on and go off. Try changing it, as I suspect it will not be expensive.

The other thing is a blocked coolant pipe or an airlock in the system.

To Top This Shitty Problem Off Ive Just Emptied The Entire Gas Reserve From The Ac System Thinking I Was Bleeding The Cooling System! So Nmow Thats Foooked Tooo!

Clean out the radiator and check the pipes to it are clear.


Your coolents probably working as hard as it can to cool the car using the heater matric as a radiator as your radiators now worhting due to a blocked pipe.


Might be a stupidsuggestion but how old is the coolent you havn't got a blocked raditor etc have you?

Just give all the pipes a good good clean out you might fine some debree has been blocking them.
