correct steering values

  2003 Clio 172
Hey team,

Quick query....

What are the CORRECT steering setup values for a 2003 172 FF?

Need to get the alignment done after replacing inner and outer tracks and we are very limited for decent alignment people over here in NI.

Half the time I reckon they just bang in regular Clio settings, not rnaultsport ones

Righto......so, on Monday I got my alignment done, 2 wheel/laser/old school style.....you know

Drove it home.....it wasn't great at all.

Steering wheel was about 5 minutes out on the dead ahead although the pulling/tramlining had gone to a degree.

Didn't enjoy this so I brought it back up to them today and they stuck it on the 4 wheel Corghi alignment jobbie.

Wow.

Different car. Now, i realize that I am going to be pulling the suspension apart to fix a persistent knock (there will be another post later) but I have attached the results here to see if it seems ok? bit concerned as there is A LOT of red :S. However, you can see how badly it was out with the old style alignment.

Would appreciate thoughts and/or recommendations guys. You know, if something points that this is bent or that bush is duff etc.

Thanks
Andy

OK, so let me just run through this. Car tracks arrow straight now though can be very fidgety at motorway speed, always correcting the steering etc

Also, at full right hand down lick cornering over a rough surface, there is some real rough rattling coming through the steering

I pulled and battered at my suspension and steering and couldn't find a thing wrong :S

So here is what has been done:

Failed the MOT 2 weeks ago on track rod end, so that was replaced and full 4 wheel aligned
Top mounts/bearings + top washer mod - replaced 2 years ago with Lemforder branded stuff
Bottom ball joints -replaced 2 years ago with NWP items
Both rear shocks replaced 2 years ago with kyb gas items
Front springs - replaced 2 years ago after one broke, these were used cup ones I think

So I suspected the inner tie rods and gave them some real abuse tonight but for the life of me, I found no play at all

So, if I am right and assuming what has been replaced is still OK (maybe that is a wrong assumption?) The other possibilities are:

Wishbone bushes - I gave these some stick with a pry bar and saw nothing untoward, correct technique?
ARB bushes - again, pry bar abuse. No stupid play. Inner bushes slightly cracked and routers distorted under load. Best way to check?
Steering rack bushes - now I had a look at these based on recent posts here and they look OK, granted I didn't remove them to check. Could these be the full load knock I mentioned above. I'm on my todd here so its hard to load up the steering and check for play.

Would appreciate any input chaps

Car battles enough without borked suspension/steering

Cheers
Jnj
